Weekends are for boasting

Weekends are for boasting. Not in myself— my abilities, my status, my experience, my family, my knowledge, my paycheck, the people I know or the people who know me, my "good" or my knowledge of "bad"— not in anything that is in myself.

No, indeed. In what, then?

I will boast in my weaknesses. Because God's grace is sufficient, and in weakness He makes His power perfect. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me!

I will boast that I know God. For thus says the Lord—Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth.

And, most importantly, I will boast in the Gospel.Why? God explains it like this: For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Therefore, I will boast, and I will boast gladly this weekend. But, as Paul says, far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Summer is berry season, and I can't seem to get enough of them! Pretty to look at, and delicious, of course. Mom took my siblings berry picking last week and made blackberry jam. Kind of the best thing ever. This shot is from Eastern Market a few weeks ago.

I found this rug at Anthropologie a few weeks ago (for something like 95% off), and I'm absolutely in love with it. It's perfect for my room here in DC, and I consider it a kind of "prayer rug."

Oak Crest Winery | Suprprise Engagement Party!

Yesterday's post was about the charming Oak Crest Vineyard & Winery, a great option for rehearsal dinners and small, intimate wedding receptions.

It also happens to be a fabulous place for an engagement party. A *surprise* engagement party! Nate & Sarah were told to meet a friend & fellow photographer at Oak Crest to "help her practice some posing," which would double as their engagement session. What they didn't know is that 50 of their closest friends and family had gathered there an hour before their arrival, prepared an elaborate multi-course meal, and placed sweet decorations all around. They walked in the door, and just stood there, absolutely shocked and overwhelmed by the love surrounding them. The surprise could not have been more perfect!










This lady planned the whole thing. Such a sweet, faithful friend!






















After a bit of time mingling and enjoying friends, I stole Nate & Sarah for a few quick engagement pictures. To make the whole "lie to you to get you to your own surprise party" thing true. =D






I absolutely adore the way Sarah looks when she's looking at Nate. He brings out all the sweetness and happiness in her eyes. As if they could even hold anymore!!

I shot an event at Oak Crest Vineyard & Winery last month, and found myself quite enchanted with the quaint charm and simplicity of the location. Lovely location for an engagement party, rehearsal dinner, or a small wedding reception.
