Weekends are for wholeness

A friend posted this on facebook yesterday, and it brought me joy and encouragement:

"If a man be going to a desired place, howsoever the way be troublesome, the sweetness of the end will make him forget the discouragements of his passage. Perhaps we must wade to heaven through a sea of blood. It matters not. The end will recompense all. Though we lose our limbs on the way, it is better to limp to heaven than dance to hell." —Richard Sibbs

And these words have run through my mind all week, confronting doubt, encouraging faith:

"These troubles and distresses that you go through in these waters are not a sign that God has forsaken you. They are sent to test you, to see if you will call to mind what you have received of His goodness and live on Him in your distress... Be of good cheer, Jesus Christ makes you whole!" —John Bunyan, Pilgrim's Progress
